Week 7 Primer: Preview of Week 14

Image
This week, we each get a chance to get a peak at our week 14 opponent. Looking at the history of our league, the final week of regular season has at least half the league vying for their final spot in the standings. What a treat (and by that, I mean a nightmare) with some key teams on bye this week. On to the previews. Ready For a Full Load (6-0) vs. Fighting NRCA's (3-3) My feelings on Derrick Henry heading into this week when he drops 35 points: It was foolish of me to think the biggest, strongest, and one of the fastest backs in the league wouldn't have another great year behind one of the league's best lines. Henry-Kamara has become the league's LeBron-AD for now. I don't have Thielen or Jackson this week, but luckily kept McKinnon on the roster, and was able to pick up Chase "Corn-Fed" Claypool with a valuable 22 pts spent. No team has started 7-0 in our great league's history, as highlighted last week. NRCA's are used to being an underdog, w...

Week 6 Primer: Start/Sit COVID

If you would have asked me a month and a half ago how much I thought the pandemic was going to affect our season, hurt our players by making them literally unplayable either due to exposure or actual positive test, I would have said not much. Sure, maybe a positive test here or there, but training camps seemed to be going to plan mostly, and even with no preseason, things seemed to be running as smoothly as they could. The NBA was finishing up their bubble, NHL was proceeding as planned, maybe we could at least experience some normalcy in between the lines of fantasy football. If we're talking start/sit, I'm sitting COVID affecting our season 45 days ago. 30 days ago, a flex play in deeper leagues. Two weeks ago, a WR2 with high upside, given the Titans situation. Today? If we're equating output to affecting our season and week-to-week lineup expectations/projections/adjustments, COVID is a bellcow back. Somebody's getting bent over and rammed, whether they know it...

Week 5 Primer: CLBB swings again, read in 120 seconds or less

Alright, I felt like writing a week 5 preview this morning. To steal a phrase from all 32 NFL coaches, we've reached the end of our first quarter of the season (playoffs included).  Let's see who excelled, and who's got some work to do. Along with the week 5 matchups.  Coach Without A Season (3-1) vs. Rowdy Rhinos (0-4): North Raleigh Stand Up Maybe the matchup with the most palace intrigue, here's a list of teams who have started 0-4 in our league: 2018 Max: 6-8, finished fifth in regular season (finished sixth overall) 2017 Glenn's: 5-9, seventh in regular season(finished fifth overall) That's it. That's the list. A loss this week stacks the odds against the Rowdiest of Rhinos even more. If he can notch a win, though, a peek through the record books showed that the road to my second championship (the one Steve spent hard-earned FnF money to create a shirt about) began with a 1-4 start. I'm not one to bet against the Human Quicker Picker Upper, but if h...
