Week 12: The Playoff Picture Begins to Take Shape

Image
Gary Workman Weekly Power Rankings 1. Ready for A Full Load (9-2) -- W2 For perspective, a list of teams in our league history who have started 9-2: 1. Annual Fucking Landslide (2019) put up 46 points losing to Glenn's in week 12, bowed out in first round of playoffs 2. Stairway to Evans (2016) lost to Steve 141-119.14 in week 12, league champion 3. Money or Nothing Next Year (2014) beat Travis 104.32-101.94 in week 12, lost in first round playoffs by his own doing That's the list. Where Load goes from here is anyone's guess. The best regular season record in league history, pure W-L is 10-4. With several of the regular season records but only one championship to show for it in seven seasons, we'll see if he places a priority on padding his Fantasy Football Reference page, or if he's trying to add some hardware to the trophy case. 2. Fully Supported Troops (7-4) -- W4 Really had to dive into the numbers on this one: during Ty's four-game win streak, Dalvin Coo...

Week 11: Eight Enter, Four Leave

Let's get right to it. Gary Workman Weekly Power Rankings 1. Fully Supported Troops -- 6-4 (W3) The league's eyes should all be on the Troops' matchup this week, as they have a chance to send Everybody's Favorite Mully to the shadow lands. More on that in a bit. With a combined 236 points over the last two weeks, Ty withstood a pedestrian Dalvin week with a Sanders, Succop, and one hell of a Chubb. Everything this guy has thrown out the last few week sticks, including a Jakobi Myers start. Weird that since abandoning his blind loyalty to the Jerry cult, his team has gone demonstrably better. There remains in our great league three owners who have yet to reach the Rendletop, those being Ty, Steve and Jacques. I asked a couple league members one summer night a few years back if we should start awarding jackets a la The Masters for the champ. To which Pat simply replied, "I mean we could, but then we'd just be a bunch of dicks in green jackets." Not my best i...

Glenn's Week 10 Power Rankings

Glenn’s Power Rankings It’s presumable the last week of unemployment for Glenn’s so I decided to use my time wisely and do a little write up on Bragging Rights Power Rankings. We are seemingly at the point in the season where Ls can’t be taken, Ws are just a sense of false hope, and stress levels are at an all time high. The annual clusterf*** that is entry to the playoffs is coming. We have an 8-man league where it’s anyone’s week and we have the history to prove it so buckle up bitches. Power Rankings Disclaimer: Typically, I just look at points for and then breakdown and that is my power rankings. That isn’t as fun and doesn’t give the full story of what is happening real time, so I decided to change it up a bit and make it juicy. This is not me predicting who makes the playoffs but who I think are the strongest teams currently. Remember it’s MY F****** OPINION! (J!) Glenn’s is not held liable for the outcome of this list. If your erection last longer than 4 hours after reading thi...

Week 7 Primer: Preview of Week 14

Image
This week, we each get a chance to get a peak at our week 14 opponent. Looking at the history of our league, the final week of regular season has at least half the league vying for their final spot in the standings. What a treat (and by that, I mean a nightmare) with some key teams on bye this week. On to the previews. Ready For a Full Load (6-0) vs. Fighting NRCA's (3-3) My feelings on Derrick Henry heading into this week when he drops 35 points: It was foolish of me to think the biggest, strongest, and one of the fastest backs in the league wouldn't have another great year behind one of the league's best lines. Henry-Kamara has become the league's LeBron-AD for now. I don't have Thielen or Jackson this week, but luckily kept McKinnon on the roster, and was able to pick up Chase "Corn-Fed" Claypool with a valuable 22 pts spent. No team has started 7-0 in our great league's history, as highlighted last week. NRCA's are used to being an underdog, w...

Week 6 Primer: Start/Sit COVID

If you would have asked me a month and a half ago how much I thought the pandemic was going to affect our season, hurt our players by making them literally unplayable either due to exposure or actual positive test, I would have said not much. Sure, maybe a positive test here or there, but training camps seemed to be going to plan mostly, and even with no preseason, things seemed to be running as smoothly as they could. The NBA was finishing up their bubble, NHL was proceeding as planned, maybe we could at least experience some normalcy in between the lines of fantasy football. If we're talking start/sit, I'm sitting COVID affecting our season 45 days ago. 30 days ago, a flex play in deeper leagues. Two weeks ago, a WR2 with high upside, given the Titans situation. Today? If we're equating output to affecting our season and week-to-week lineup expectations/projections/adjustments, COVID is a bellcow back. Somebody's getting bent over and rammed, whether they know it...

Week 5 Primer: CLBB swings again, read in 120 seconds or less

Image
Alright, I felt like writing a week 5 preview this morning. To steal a phrase from all 32 NFL coaches, we've reached the end of our first quarter of the season (playoffs included).  Let's see who excelled, and who's got some work to do. Along with the week 5 matchups.  Coach Without A Season (3-1) vs. Rowdy Rhinos (0-4): North Raleigh Stand Up Maybe the matchup with the most palace intrigue, here's a list of teams who have started 0-4 in our league: 2018 Max: 6-8, finished fifth in regular season (finished sixth overall) 2017 Glenn's: 5-9, seventh in regular season(finished fifth overall) That's it. That's the list. A loss this week stacks the odds against the Rowdiest of Rhinos even more. If he can notch a win, though, a peek through the record books showed that the road to my second championship (the one Steve spent hard-earned FnF money to create a shirt about) began with a 1-4 start. I'm not one to bet against the Human Quicker Picker Upper, but if h...
